Saudi Airlines Cargo will begin operating 3 weekly 747 freighters to the new Al Maktoum International Airport at Dubai World Central (DWC) as of March 2012. The service will operate three times per week, with direct flights departing from Brussels twice a week and from Amsterdam once a week. The new service, which is part of a global part charter program with DHL Global Forwarding, enables Saudi Airlines Cargo to offer direct capacity from Europe to Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Saudi Airlines Cargo has successfully transported a 73 ton generator rotor from Chengdu, China to Jeddah on behalf of Rabigh Electricity Company (RABEC).
The rotor is the final part to complete the first Independent Power Project in Saudi Arabia, the $2.5 billion project for a 1200MW steam turbine power station to provide power to the Western Region.

Qatar Airways’ decision to fly to Azerbaijan was prompted by the country’s developing tourism industry and energy resources, CEO Akbar al-Baker said at a ceremony to mark the first Qatar Airways flight to Baku’s Heydar Aliyev International Airport.

The Ras Al Khaimah International Airport has strengthened its management team with the appointment of Andrew Gower as airport director and Mohammed Qazi as commercial director.
The new appointments are in line with RAK International Airport’s mandate to expand its operations and services in 2012.
